A soccer legend like no other, English soccer star Jimmy Greaves passed away on Saturday, October 13th, 2018. The club player moved up to the top of the world’s leagues over and over and left a lasting legacy both on and off the pitch.
FOX’s Sara Sidner reports from London in this week’s “FOX & Friends First”:
Jimmy Greaves is an English soccer legend. Born in 1926, Greaves played with 21 clubs in seven decades, winning four titles with Leicester, scoring a record 530 goals.
Now he has given his legacy another boost with a huge collection of memorabilia that will make him the most expensive footballer in history.
At first he only wanted to auction off some of his artifacts, but a bidder asked for more, the bidding grew so fierce Greaves is now selling many of his personal belongings in a single-day sale in London. But his famous numbers are not included and we do not know the value of the sale, but he was scheduled to appear on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” just a few weeks ago, to talk about his career and new record of having scored the most goals in the Premier League.
Funeral arrangements are still pending, so there is no word yet if Kimmel will be present.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Annette, his son John and his grandchildren Mikayla and Romeo.
Today is Jimmy Greaves’ 87th birthday, and he would have turned 87.
Remembering a great soccer player, the great Jimmy Greaves, died this past Saturday, October 13th, 2018.
